Health Care Professional Education & Support

Through Central Iowa AHEC continuing education programs, professionals in rural and underserved areas are able to strengthen their practices. Through its affiliation with Broadlawns Medical Center, Central Iowa AHEC provides accredited continuing education opportunities, resources and connections to health professions students. 

Central Iowa AHEC programs are designed to enhance clinical skills, provide information dissemination on health care issues and help maintain professional certifications. Central Iowa AHEC focuses on recruitment, placement and retention activities to address community and state health care workforce needs. 

Health Professional Volunteer Opportunities include:

• Become a preceptor and/or mentor
• Provide students with internship and/or job shadow experiences
• Get involved with Youth Health Service Corp. and their service learning project
• Present to local schools and students
